Medicine in Jordan

Kira-kira setahun yang lalu, pada minggu ini, saya terpaksa memandu sejauh 30KM untuk ke Hospital Putrajaya. Bukan menziarah keluarga yang sakit. Tetapi atas tanggungjawab mengikuti Kursus Pendedahan Kerjaya Kedoktoran, kursus khas buat semua pemohon biasiswa Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA). Tujuan JPA, pada pandangan saya, ialah untuk memastikan pemohon-pemohon lepasan SPM benar-benar pasti dan bersifat realistik akan bidang tugas, masa bertugas, sistem kenaikan pangkat dan sebagainya, sebab tak semua orang tahu, tugas doktor bukan semudah seperti Dr. House dalam siri House atau...(bayangkan sendiri hero/heroin siri mana anda.)

Career Path as Doctors in Malaysia

Graduate > Housemanship (compulsory , min. 2years in public hospital) > Compulsory Service (3years , in any hospitals or clinics under the Ministry of Health)

Above is the compulsory system in Malaysia in order to allow us to be a Registered Medical Practitoners. (link: http://mmc.gov.my/v1/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=38 )

After that, we opt to choose either to pursue our Master to specialize or to continue practitioning anywhere.

I did my own calculation a year ago.

6 years (studying) + 2 years (HO/houseman) + 3 years (MO/compulsory service)

= 10 years!

Erk, at the age 29++. Others might have become millionaires like Irfan Khairi, while I'm just about to start specializing . When to get married? When to go for world tour?

Niat

Sebab doktor gaji banyak.

Sebab doktor orang hormat.

Sebab doktor hebat, boleh jadi macam .....(silalah isikan sendiri watak-watak kegemaran anda).

BOHONG BELAKA!

Saya tak pernah baca buku yang mengisahkan tentang doktor jutawan. Kalau nak jadi kaya, kerja lain lagi melambak.

Jadi 'orang besar' baru orang hormat, kan? Kena jadi YB dulu ni :D

Konklusi:

Niat biar betul dan jalan mesti benar.

Jadi pelajar perubatan selama 4 bulan ini, saya akui saya selalu rasa tewas. Tewas dengan rasa dan cemburu. Rasa letih dan malas. Cemburu pada kawan-kawan yang 'relax' sahaja belajar.

Tetapi, kita akan bangkit bangun untuk terus perjuangkan niat kita.

Penting niat ni. Azam kita ni. Matlamat masa panjang kita. Fikirkan dalam-dalam bagi mereka yang masih punya masa dan peluang.

Eh, bukan nak lemahkan semangat sesiapa, sekadar nak tolong suluhkan mana-mana jalan yang perlu. Kalau nak lampu suluh lebih power, boleh tanya pada mereka yang arif. Saya tak arif bidang ini. Cuma berkongsi pandangan..

Studying Medicine in Jordan

Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS)

Duration: 6 years

System:

Year 1-3

• Theoretical Learning
• 3 semester per Year [1st Sem: Sept- Jan, 2nd Sem: Feb - June, 3rd Sem/ Summer Sem: June - August]
• Teaching Medium: English
• Holidays: the longest in August, 1 Month
• Exam oriented; 3 exams per semester
• All exam are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

Year 4-6: Pre-Clinical (don't know much, but you have to communicate with locals in Arabic for sure)

Jordan; from My Personal View

Weather

• Winter: Sept - April..some places snowing even only for a day. Temp: min. 2/1 - max. 15
• Summer: May- August. Don't know much..but max. Temp: 38/40 degree Celsius.
• in between these two : Spring and Autumn, but not very significant.

Language

• mainly Arabic 'Ammiah. Slightly different from Arabic Fushah(read: fus-hah), the Arabic that we write.
• English. During lectures and sometimes with Arabic friends. Their accent is British.

Food

• Awesome. :D
• Rice available. Eventhough quite expensive, the scholarship is enough..

Irbid

• one of the state.
• have 2 universities: Jordan Univ. of Science & Tech (JUST) and Univ. of Yarmouk
• JUST: Dentistry & Medicine studies
• Yarmouk: Arabic, Economics, Fiqh, Usuluddin (etc ) Studies
• Lots to discover.
• 1 and half Hour from Queen Alia Int. Airport :D

~life~

• won't get bored.
• All Malaysians are Family. Tak kenal siapa, tapi tegur je.
• rindu Malaysia, tapi masih boleh kawal. Ada internet. Skype dan YM sedia berkhidmat.
• ilmu bertebaran. Tunggu kita cari je.
• duit cukup.
• makan kenyang.
• locals are very friendly.

So..

we are the artist for the paintings of our life.

Though we have no talent,

but we'll learn by time.

Our drawings; there is always One who admire them.

If they are For Him.
